Earlier today I was watching a documentary on Katy Perry. While watching it one thing that caught my attention was Katy Perry’s tape with Elmo that never was put on the air. Before it was to be released on television, it was put on youtube where parents of young children viewed it. It never made it on air because so many parents commented on it saying “I DO NOT want my five year old looking at that!”. Her costume was so offending to these parents and way too revealing to even make it on Sesame Street. Perry thought her outfit was just fun and cute and had no intension of wearing anything too revealing. Her top was a skin color mesh material which was seen as revealing. I think Perry was a little out of line and could have possibly worn something a little more covering considering it was for Sesame Street. The media portrays these images and causes people to think in order to be famous or popular you must dress like that.
